PSO Raises Over $150,000 Through its Twelfth Designers’ ShowHouse

(More news)
PORTLAND, Maine -- The Portland Symphony Orchestra’s (PSO) twelfth Designers’ ShowHouse garnered rave reviews and record attendance during its three-week run in September 2007. More than 5,000 people attended the biannual event, which is the PSO’s largest and most significant fundraising effort. This year’s ShowHouse raised a record-breaking $154,000 to support the PSO’s education, community, and artistic programs.

Thirteen of New England’s top designers, dozens of artisans and craftspeople, and hundreds of volunteers all joined forces to create the Designers’ ShowHouse, located in Falmouth Foreside.

This year, for the first time in the history of ShowHouse, attendees were invited to vote in four categories: People’s Choice, Most Creative, Best Use of Color and Best Use of Space.

The winners are:

Peoples Choice: Kitchen - Debbie Kingry, Tracy Davis from Urban Dwellings, and Renee Tringali and Cheryl Cuddy from New England Cabinetry

Most Creative: Boys Bedroom - Lynne Maxfield, Decorating Plus

Best Use of Color: Atrium - Amy Hawkes, Manchester Designs

Best Use of Space: Master Suite - Tracy Davis, Urban Dwellings

Recognized as one of the top symphony orchestras of its size in the country, the Portland Symphony Orchestra has a long and proud tradition of providing residents of Portland, the state of Maine, and northern New England with life-enhancing experiences that annually reach more than 80,000 people of all ages. Since its founding in 1924, the PSO has built a strong reputation for performances of the highest artistic quality. Toshiyuki Shimada concluded his extraordinary 20-year tenure as Music Director in the spring of 2006, and in May 2007, Robert Moody was appointed as the PSO's 12th Music Director.
