Critically acclaimed tenor Matthew DiBattista has performed opera and concert works throughout the United States, as well as Italy, France, and Portugal.  He has sung under such conductors as James Conlon, Seiji Ozawa, Keith Lockhart and Robert Shaw. Mr. DiBattista recently made his debut at St. Louis Opera Theatre as the Valet Tenors in The Tales of Hoffmann, and will repeat these roles with Boston Lyric Opera in 2008 and Opera Colorado in 2009.  Also upcoming, Mr. DiBattista will be Bégearss in Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ 2009 production of Ghosts of Versaille, tenor soloist for Handel’s Messiah at Mechanics Hall and tenor soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee.  Recent soloist appearances include Britten’s Nocturne with the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem with The New Bedford Symphony, Copland’s Tender Land Suites with the Concord Symphony, Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Brookline Chorus, and the Holiday Pops with the Indian Hill Symphony. 

A returned native to Boston, Mr. DiBattista recently made his debut with Boston Lyric Opera under the baton of conductor Keith Lockhart as Goro in Madama Butterfly.  He also debuted with Opera Boston as Louis in Angels in America and Jack O’Brien in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.  Career highlights include the role of Wesley in the Emmy nominated Central Park (Glimmerglass Opera) on PBS’ Great Performances, and a Vienna Modern Masters recording of Hyacinth from Apollo at the “100 Days Festival” in Lisbon, Portugal, written specifically for Mr. DiBattista.

Other notable guest appearances include performances with Michigan Opera, Opera Omaha, Skylight Opera, Mississippi Opera, Lyric Opera San Antonio, Concert Opera Philadelphia, Santa Fe Opera, Kentucky Opera, Cincinnati Opera, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the MEC Ensemble of Los Angeles, the Mozart Society Orchestra, the Cincinnati Philharmonia, the Cincinnati Contemporary Music Ensemble and more.  Mr. DiBattista resides in Medford, MA where he maintains a private voice studio.
