Matthew Fritz
Instrument: Conductor
A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Matthew Fritz is currently the Conductor of Youth and Family Programming with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and is Music Director of the Parkway Concert Orchestra in Norwood, MA. While just at the beginning of his conducting experiences, Matthew has had the opportunity to guest conduct the Portland Symphony, Southern Arizona Symphony, Quincy Symphony, Cape Ann Symphony, and the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra. He has also conducted the Mendoza Symphony in Argentina, and worked with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra through the Eastman Summer Conducting Institute. Matthew holds a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Eastman School of Music, and a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in violin performance. His principal teachers were Neil Varon and Robert Moody.
While at Eastman, Matthew was an active member of the Neo Chamber Orchestra both as conductor and violinist when it began in 2005. He served as music director of this unique organization for the 2006-2007 season. Matthew currently lives in Boston with his wife Theresa, where he is an active violinist and conductor. He is passionate about sharing music with others, especially those who might not ordinarily be exposed to Classical music.
