Troy Cook
Instrument: Baritone
American baritone Troy Cook has just performed Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor in Las Palmas. He also recently appeared as Zurga to open 2007-08 with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the opera belonged to Cook, whose Zurga seemed like the only human being onstage. his resplendent baritone is always a pleasure, but beyond that you really believed in the complexity of his character...and in his bracing final aria you realized that "Pearl Fishers" is really just a love-triangle in which somebody had to give in for the sake of friendship." Just prior, he sang in a gala concert with Opera Pacific, as Marcello in Boheme with Bershire Opera and performed Figaro in Barbiere for Opera Omaha last spring.

Reviews of his 'Barbiere' - Figaro the previous season at San Francisco Opera. "Baritone Troy Cook is spectacular in the role of Figaro. He's insolent, charming, self-amused, a rogue...His patter and roulades are precise and ring out fearlessly," "Troy Cook stole the show. He has a fine supple baritone voice," "His acting was perfect and his baritone resonant with a warm tone and solid musicality."
Other recent appearances include Figaro in Barbiere at Fort Worth Opera, Guglielmo with Santa Fe and Toledo Opera, solo recitals under the auspices of the Marilyn Horne Foundation and a performance of Carmina Burana with the American Ballet Theater at Lincoln Center.
