Grew up: Milwaukee, WI
Started playing: I started violin when I was 6 years old and evolved to viola when I was 10.
Education: Bachelor of Music, Oberlin Conservatory; Master of Music, New England Conservatory; additional study at Cleveland Institute of Music. Studied viola with Kim Kashkashian, Carol Rodland, Peter Slowik, Jeffrey Irvine, and Sara Harmelink, and voice with Marlene Ralis Rosen.
Began with PSO: 2004
Non-PSO Activities: International Contemporary Ensemble (www.iceorg.org), Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Harvard Group for New Music, Callithumpian Consort, Yellow Barn Music Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy, American Repertory Theatre
Favorite music: I get really anxious whenever someone asks me this question.
In my iPod: A lot of Bach, a rotation of whatever chamber music I'm playing at the moment, a whole bunch of non-classical--The Arcade Fire, The Band, Beck, Bjork, The Caesars, Miles Davis, Radiohead, The Shins, Bruce Springsteen, The Strokes, Tom Waits...... and a few things I've never listened to!
Hobbies: Ask me about stage-diving.
Ensemble: I love playing in string quartets and am always happy to get groups together to play at events - please e-mail me for more info.
Teacher: I live in the Boston area and have students in MA, ME, NH, and RI!
